College Essay Coaching Services and Academic Writing

For College Students

Preparing major assignments for submission demands a careful reading prior to deadline day. I will provide recommendations and edits via your choice of software (Google Docs or Microsoft Word) with track changes applied.

Here are common projects:

  • thesis or dissertations (MLA, APA, Chicago, AP style guides)
  • narrative writing
  • research writing
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • essays

For College Applicants

College application season brings a flurry of deadlines and a variety of writing prompts that are deceptively simple to answer. I can guide your high school senior through the writing process so their Common App essay tells a meaningful and memorable story to set them apart from other equally qualified university candidates.

Based on your student’s needs we can work solely via Google Docs or discuss essays on Zoom. I am happy to accommodate your student’s learning preferences as we prepare the most important essay they will ever write including any of the following:

  • Common App essay prompts

  • personal statements
  • supplemental essays
  • scholarship essays.

I am able to work with students during the drafting stage or revise a draft in progress. Let’s work together to help your rising college freshman earn that coveted spot at their dream school!

Need to revise and format a PowerPoint presentation? I can do that too!

Ask about adapting your content into a professional presentation. Get noticed with eye-catching designs.
I can also supplement your presentation with Canva custom templates to design infographics that will make your information memorable. Visually pleasing content is always a welcome addition to any presentation!

Know your research paper documentation style. First impressions count.

Too many writers ignore the finer details of the writing process including the paper’s formatting. Verify the documentation style your instructor requires and follow it precisely. Don’t leave this part of the research process to the very end or you may find yourself scrambling to fix errors on pages of research.

Here is a list of common documentation styles:

  • APA
  • MLA
  • Chicago
  • AP

These common formatting errors usually need attention in student writing:

  • formatting title page, abstract, and references
  • in-text citations and reference page
  • missing publication dates
  • citing newer media such as Tweets, YouTube videos, and other social media content
  • creating an appendix page

Half the battle against poor documentation involves just knowing what a correct paper looks like. Most English instructors can glance at a research paper from a few feet away to tell if formatting errors exist. Some can tell the difference between a half a pica’s difference in font size. They’re brutal, I know.

Correct those problems on the front end and avoid placing the content of your writing under even further scrutiny. Be a well-respected researcher before they even really read your paper!
